CSU Swimming & Diving Endowed Scholarships

The Frank Tilocco, Jr. Memorial Scholarship (Est. 1981)

Frank Tilocco, Jr. was a dedicated member of the diving team from 1979 to 1981. He was a talented diver who was always happy and enthusiastic. During his ‘80/’81 season, the team had the most NCAA Division I qualifiers in CSU’s history. Frank was a popular and loved member of the team whose shining personality enhanced the teams’ success that year.

During his sophomore year, Frank was killed in a car accident. In remembrance of his love of diving and CSU, Frank’s parents made a generous donation to form the scholarship in their son’s name.

This scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete in the diving program at CSU.

The Robert F. Busbey Endowed Scholarship (Est. 1999)

No single individual impacted Cleveland State University athletics more than Robert F. “Bob” Busbey.

A charter member of Cleveland State’s Athletic Hall of Fame, Bob distinguished himself with more than 50 years of dedicated service and athletic achievements as a four-sport athlete, head swimming coach for 30 years, golf and track coach, Director of Athletics for 24 years and Associate Vice President of Athletic Affairs.

Bob received the 1982 national collegiate and scholastic swimming trophy – one of the sports’ highest awards.

In recognition of his outstanding athletic legacy and generous support to the University, CSU swimming alumni and the Cleveland community campaigned to raise funds to honor Bob by renaming the CSU natatorium “The Robert F. Busbey Natatorium” in 1999. Monies raised were donated to The Robert F. Busbey Endowed Scholarship to help deserving swimming and diving team members.
